This is a selected arrangement of the famous romantic era German composer Robert Schumann's song cycle Dichterliebe, (A Poet's Love) composed in 1840. This cycle includes 16 songs (the first publication), from which I have selected 6 songs.
It is said that the 1st through the 6th songs are about joy of love, 7th through the 14th are of sadness of heartbreak, and the last 2 are of reflecting back on that sadness. In this selection, the first three reflect joy, the fourth is of sadness, and the last two reflect back on sorrows as did Schumann's original song cycle.

The selections are:
1 Im wunderschönen Monat Mai (In the wonderfully fair month of May)
3 Die Rose, die Lilie (The rose, the lily, the dove, the sun)
6 Im Rhein, im heiligen Strome (In the Rhine, in the holy stream)
10 Hör'ich das Liedchen klingen (I hear the little song sounding)
15 Aus alten Märchen winkt es (From old fairy-tales it beckons)
16 Die alten, bösen Lieder (The old, angry songs)

I tried to stay as true to the original as possible. However, to accommodate different timbres for wind band setting, I have added some notes, changed tempos, and reduced and expanded some measures. While keeping the German song style and sound is very important, I would like for everyone to enjoy the unique characteristics and expressions only possible in the wind band setting.
