Singapore celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015. Singapore is a city-state located almost directly on the equator in Southeast Asia. This composition came from a joint project between Japan and Singapore. Mr. Simon Ng, a musician in Singapore, requested music for his elementary school brass band to celebrate the anniversary. The music uses two melodies by Mr. Ng, and then Keiichi Kurokawa of Japan scored it as a brass band overture. It is a great honor and a humbling experience to be able to publish this project for such an important year in Singapore’s history.
