Commissioned by Vive! Saxophone Quartet, 2012 and premiered in the 10h recital at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall on June 13, 2012.
Convection is the circular movement caused a fluid or gas being heated from below and cooled from above simultaneously. The opposite heat and cold are portrayed by high and low notes. This piece expresses the bipolar sense of the two and the flow between them.

"High and low notes" can refer to the overall range of the quartet, or to the range within an individual instrument. In any case, I have been interested in making a difference in the texture of the "inside" saxophones, which have high homogeneity in their entire range.

It's ideal to maintain a fast tempo but detailed attention to clear accents is required. Also, it is important to emphasize the accent on the head of the short passages as well as those at the beginning of the measure, and make the listener aware of the "inserted fragment". Coda from 173, maintain the spirit and keep moving forward with a little bit of stretta.
