Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), the greatest composer of German baroque music, left many works for the keyboard instrument Clavier (piano prototype) of his time. Composed around 1722, the French Suite BMV 812-817 is a collection of 6 Clavier Suites of 5-6 songs. This work is the second. Bach is said to have raised the perfection of the suite form to the highest level. After his death the form gradually disappeared, ending one of the greatest eras in Western music.

Suite No. 2 in C Minor consists of 6 dances: "Allemande," "Courante," "Sarabande," "Air," "Menuet," and "Gigue".
