The original octet was commissioned by Ishiyama Junior High School in 2007.
Because the request came from Hokkaido (the northernmost state in Japan), I decided to do a piece featuring Aynu folk songs. Snow of an Aynu Village represents Aynu people living resolutely and worshiping gods in snow.

Though this version is for 8 players, perform with the resonant image of a concert band. If possible, please utilize optional parts as well. Since the range of each instrument from the original version is retained, those ranges may need adjustment to best suit your selection of instruments and voices.
