3 Euphoniums

"Chaconne", is the fifth movement of "Partita No. 2", out of the six works for unaccompanied violin by J.S. Bach (1685-1750). This euphonium trio requires exceptional skill.
"Chaconne" was a dance introduced from Mexico to Spain in the 16th century and developed in France and Italy. It is written in a traditional format, with a number of repetitions of standard four-bar chord progression and bass theme. Since the first publication of sheet music at the end of the 18th century, it has been a very important repertoire for professional violinists and has attracted other instrumentalists and composers, leading to many arrangements.

In 2010, the euphonium trio "SHINE" by active young players admired this song. Arranged at their request and premiered in November of the same year, the arrangement assumes highly skilled players provide expression unique to the "euphonium ensemble".

I believe the tranquil atmosphere of this Baroque piece is in harmony with the profound sound of the new instrument, euphonium, born in the 19th century.
