Stan Kenton introduced his orchestra in "This is an orchestra" as "This is a cross section view of this orchestra."

Lalo Schifrin wrote "Gillespiana" for the Dizzy Gillespie Ensemble. It was orchestrated in a way that the horn section and tubas play the same role as the saxophone section. In listening to its recording, those players understood to mimic this unique situation.

These two concepts inspired me to compose this work. My intentions are to bring mutual understanding between legit and jazz performance to further enrich the music scene. The original version was titled "Cross-Section View" written in 2006 for the brass ensemble "Brass Concept". It was rearranged in 2014 by request from hornist Ikuhiro Hayashi to have more swing style with percussion parts.
