Composed for my alma mater, the saxophone trio of the Tokyo Metropolitan Musashi High School Wind Orchestra premiered this at the 2012 Tokyo Ensemble Contest.

The so-called "Musashino area," extending from the center of Tokyo to the west, comprises a collection of Tokyo's commuter towns that originated from the construction of railways as infrastructure development during the Meiji and Taisho eras. Nowadays, especially along each railway line, houses are lined up in a narrow space, and the area in front of the station is also developing as the core of local life due to successful redevelopment after the war. On the other hand, if you venture a little further from the town, you can still encounter remnants of pre-modern civilization, such as springs, thickets, and archaeological sites. It's a very interesting area where the hustle and bustle of people, unique pop culture, life, history, and nature all blend together (at first glance). This work depicts the view of "Musashino," brimming with various elements of the city. I hope that many people will play this piece with nostalgia, viewing it as their own "projection of their hometown.
