"Take Off II" is the newly revised version of the march "Take Off", originally composed in the spring of 1985 as a test piece submission for the All Japan Band Association, which was selected for use in the 34th AJBC(1986). This work, which began my most earnest desire to compose wind music, is a sort of kind of landmark in my career. While it is my pleasure that this work has been performed many times from then until now, it is also regrettable that there were many amateurish parts scored in the original version. I tried to revise it many times, but I found it difficult to re-engage this energetic project created in my youth, as twenty years managed to slip by.
Mr.Kanai, the organizer of Naniwa Orchestral Winds, encouraged me to re-write the march, and so I finally completed this new version.
I added the parts that were cut in the original work and improved orchestration and harmony according to my present senses. I feel the character of the whole song became clearer. I would be pleased to have musicians of this new generation enjoy producing my best effort of "Take Off" Concert March.
