Basic fundamental practice is one of the most important aspects of playing an instrument.
However, basic practice is a tedious task that can involve repeating monotonous phrases over and over.
So I decided to create this piece so that fundamental practice might be more enjoyable.
It is like a Burgmuller piece for piano; while having fun playing you can also learn the basics.
The minimum number of players is four (percussion instruments are optional), and the work consists of 5 sections.
As the subtitle suggests, the music is designed to train 1) unison and long tones, 2) scales, 3) harmony, 4) intervals and arpeggios, and 5) tonguing.
Valuable for more than basic practice, the collection works for concert with a larger group since it is nearly 6 minutes long, or for an ensemble contest with one player per part, since 4 out of 5 sections total only 4:30 minutes.
