I revised 2 songs for Octet out of the 5 that I arranged for clarinet choir as commissioned by the Kanazawa Clarinet Ensemble.
“Dance of the Little Swans” is in the second act of Swan Lake, a scene where girls turned into swans by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart dance around the shore. Nowadays “Dance of the Little Swans” is better known as “Dance of the Four Little Swans” and interests audiences with a lambent but sorrowful melody. “Spanish Dance” is from the third act, where Prince Siegfried chooses his future wife in the ballroom. It is grand and exotic in the style a bolero.
*Both songs are arranged within a half step of the original. *The part of contrabass clarinet is replaceable with string bass; parts included.
