Chant for DOSOZIN is adapted from the test piece I composed in 2000.

The melody and harmony have been modified. For example, the Bassoon solo in measure 104 was originally for Bass Trombone.

I added a few more measures to enhance the original.

- Measure 97-99 I added phrases to emphasize the measure 100 upbeat
- Measure 160-164 are additional phrases

The tempo setting has been changed from 128 to 120. A slightly slower tempo should express the richness of the Ryukyuan scale. If you want a more youthful, bouncy feeling, the original tempo will be fine.

I used the Ryukyu scale not to express its regional character, but because I thought it suitable for expressing the image of the ""Dosojin, Gods of conjugal bliss and love, dancing happily with cheeks rubbing together when not being observed."" I composed this piece with respect to the smiling stone gods who eternally greet us at every pathway, in good times and in bad, and with the hope that times to come will be filled with tender love.
